New max deadlift 140kg-the crazy way! - Humba

Recently started training with a new buddy who loves to egg me on and so to preserve my dignity I've got a new deadlift max in a way I would have never achieved by myself. How so?

Well, for the last 3 years I've deadlifted with a sumo stance given my height. Also, I've used a belt for about the last 3 years too. So, subject to peer pressure, what do I do? Lift a max deadlift conventional style with no belt. My form would have horrified many perhaps; I'm sure my back was as round as a half moon and I had quite a niggling pain in my hamstring. But I got the 140kg up, twice in fact! My whole posterier chain (whatever that really is) felt pretty damn tight and tired all day, but nothing a bit of foam rolling won't fix.

So the moral of the story? Is that you can achieve new feats of strength so long as there is no-one around telling you how bad your form is? I guess it is so long as you get through without injury.

Anyway, double my body weight deadlift here I come!!

    Awesome effort!! As long as your not injured for the next 6 weeks, your form is fine!!
