Nige
After many years of working out in commercial gyms, focussing on bicep peaks, I eventually gave away my bodybuilding career when I decided that strength was more important than a chiseled physique (and probably easier to attain). I knew I had already mastered two of the three key ingredients to be a superior weight lifter (eating and resting) the only challenge I now face is to master the third ingredient...heavy training. Back in 2003 I started traing occasionally with RD and spent a brief time working out at the famous "ESP". Unfortunately I got injured, a horrendous wrist roll over during a heavy floor press session, and coupled some competing life events my training took a back seat. However, after several months I heard about a little gym operating in Reservoir named "Greasy's" (recently renamed RD's Gym). The place was dingy, conditions cramped, but the equipment was good and the price was right. Today I still manage to train at RD's, usually twice a week. The gym location has temporarily moved but the joint is essentially the same. Like all gyms it is the members that make a gym fun. RD is the senior coach and keeps the routines varied and interesting. A few blokes have come and gone but the vibe of the place is good and most members are striving to improve their strength. Over the last 6 years I've made steady gains in most lifts and have recently lifted some PB's in the deadlift. I have an ongoing goal of breaking the 300lb barrier on bench press. I see weight lifting as a long term activity that serves several purposes including physical and mental health and I really enjoy the social aspect. I hope I can train on for many years to come!
Personal Bests: Squat 140kg | Bench 127.5kg | Deadlift 140kg
