Well my background is kind of the opposite to RD's. I have never owned a piece of gym equipment in my life. Wouldn't know what to do with a weight if it jumped off a bar and bit me. Wasn't that much into sport either (except cheering on St Kilda!). My wife (Karen) bought me a small dumbell set and a skipping rope some years back (no - i didn't take the hint). So now that i'm 31, and i can no longer bench press my 9yo daughter (Abi) i think it's high time to get somewhat serious. It would be somewhat embarassing if my boys (Sol 7yo and Abel 4yo) beat me in an arm wrestle before they're 12. So i'm in... but just one question, What's a deadlift??

Good on ya Brenden! Welcome aboard. If you've never touched a weight I'd recommend getting a fitness instructor to help you through the basic of goal setting, starting a routine, exercise choice, form etc. Once you get going we can help here with some advice and encouragement and follow your journey.
