  • How To Beat Tiredness With Reservoir Dad Magic

Monkey-magicI’m totally stuffed and I’ve run out of No-Doz tablets and instant coffee and the living/dining room area’s a mess so I’m trying something new to take me charging back to the domestic frontline!

First, here’s the original opening to the cult classic TV series, Monkey Magic. (If you’re not in to cool nostalgic stuff, just skip this and go to the Reservoir Dad version below.)

In the worlds before Monkey, primal chaos reigned. Heavens sought order. But the phoenix can fly only when its feathers are grown.

The four worlds formed again and yet again, as endless aeons wheeled and passed. Time and the pure essence of Heaven, the moisture of the Earth, the powers of the Sun and the Moon all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation. And it became magically fertile.

That first egg was named "Thought". Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha, said, "With our thoughts, we make the World". Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone monkey

The nature of Monkey was irrepressible!

    Monkeeeeeeeeeey!

Okay. Good. Now, here’s the more inspirational let’s get the housework done Reservoir Dad version:

monkey-magic-RDIn the worlds before Reservoir Dad, domestic chaos reigned. Home-life sought order. But the phoenix can fly only when its feathers are grown.

Children fed again and yet again, as endless food spills wheeled and passed. Repetitive strain injury and the pure essence of AJAX, the moisture of a Coles-bought dishcloth, the powers of dining room lighting and the dryness of artificial air all worked upon a certain filthy kitchen table, old as creation. And it became magically fertile.

That first egg was named "Thought". Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha, said, "With our thoughts, we clean the kitchen". Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone Reservoir Dad.

The nature of Reservoir Dad was irrepressible!

    Reservoir Daaaaaad!

Ahhh….nuh. Didn’t work. Still too fricken tired to get motivated for housework.

Any other ideas (apart from sleeping) to beat tiredness?

Go for a walk in the fresh air to rejuvinate yourself. Or in the twisted words of Tripitaka, "No cleaning Monkey!". Thanks for reminder to go pick up my box set DVDs from my brothers house, they've been there for years. Maybe my 3 yr old my get into some Monkey magic, I very much doubt it!

I like Tripitaka's words. Unfortunately, I don't think Archie, Lewis, Tyson, Maki, or RM will. Watch Monkey Magic!
