No I don't wish to be a father in an earlier generation, but I'm glad I'm not the father of a child of the current generation because of the incessant marketing to young people now-a-days. I would refuse to buy them a mobile phone for example and as a result would be in constant conflict, I presume. I would probably get rid of computers in the home just like we got rid of our TV's when our kids were young. 10 TV free years was probably the best thing we did when they were growing up.

The Top Five were selected based on the total votes from our Mentally Sexy Judges – Maureen Matthews, Kate Hunter, Steve Biddulph and The Circle Crew from Channel 10. It was incredibly tight with the top 15 within 20 points of each other.

The day Jakson was due to be born was amazing. I was scheduled at 12.30 for a CS, but didn't even go into the theatre until 4.30pm. James was frantic, I was in there over two hours and after being told it would only take forty-five minutes was starting to think the worst.

By the time I was out of recovery he had bloodshot eyes... could not stop crying as he fed and changed our son for the first time ever.

We found out Jakson was quite ill when he was forty-eight hours old and being given the run-around led to my frustration. James was there to talk to the doctors and nurses and keep me calm. It worked.

                                   Earlier in the year I approached, Joe Schatz - the creator of popular Amercian website Dad Blogs - with the idea of running The Search For America's Most Mentally Sexy Dad alongside the Aussie comp. The idea was to find our National winners first and then to put the Top Five from each country to the Aussie and American Judges to find The World's Most Mentally Sexy Dad. Over some long Skype and Facebook sessions, Joe (a brilliant web designer) helped me to build the Reservoir Dad website so that it was user friendly enough to receive and display Mentally Sexy Entries. But as can happen, life got in the way with our little plan and we never quite managed to stay in contact long enough to see 'The Worlds' through to it's conclusion.

I am happy to say, though, that the American comp did find it's Top Five and it's National Winner and that the experience this year has given us a lot of insight into what will need to happen next year to get the World's Most Mentally Sexy Dad up and running.

Without going into Joe's personal life, he had a hell-of-a-lot going on over the past few months and so has done a great job, with the help of American Mentally Sexy Judge Emilia, in crowning entrant Spiny Norman as America's Most Mentally Sexy Dad 2010. Here's his entry -
